Hello From Officer 3

Well another fair is in the books and despite all the bumps and problems and lessons learned it was a good one in the end. We had some good training and good participation. The equipment was exceptional as always and thanks to all the departments that donated to us. There were several vendors that gave us the best tools to go with the trucks to make our jobs and tasks as safe as possible. A special thanks to a special person, that usually goes above the rest to make sure we have every thing we need and want, Mike McNeil with Sentinel. Mike gives without any questions except one, “is that going to be enough Bubba?” Yes Mike, that’s enough. Let some others help also.

Mike also contributes to my history program. I ask vendors of the fire service to donate anything their company has for us to reward the personnel to keep moral high, and that comes in several ways. Mike has for several years donated a fire helmet and this year he gave me two of them to award. All the firefighters and EMS do look forward to that and he also gives a lot of other smaller things to draw for. Mike, thanks for all you do for the State Fair Fire and Rescue! You are special to us in many ways! Continue Reading →

Greetings to All from Officer 4

Well it’s time to start planning and preparing for the state fair so get those pencils out and fill out those applications and get that time off scheduled. Please pay close attention to the application this year because there have been some changes made that some of you will appreciate. Take a couple extra minutes to check and double check so there won’t be any problems getting your application accepted and your uniform ordered. Remember ALL applications must be mailed to Monty Thompson ONLY. All applications must be filled out completely and legibly and have all the extra information asked for attached so you don’t get denied for lack of information and applicant must sign the application.

Thanks for your help and see you in Sedalia in April for more fun and fellowship and remember the fair is just around the corner from convention so get it done now so it will be done.

I hope you all have a good and safe new year and hope to see you soon.

sf-4Well sad to say another fair has come and gone. Oh, but it was another good one, lots of hard work and lots of good fun was had by all.

This year we met lots of new friends and got to see our old friends we have had forever and we hope the trend will continue next year and it will if everyone tells there friends about their experiences.

We added a new commissioner and Rick Dozier was a great addition to our commission. Thanks Rick. Also we did not have any major equipment failures this year and that’s always a plus. The first couple day’s were hot as all get out and the calls were up, but that’s someone else’s department.

Thanks to our new chief this year Donnie Rogers. Chief Rogers and his staff did a very good job. Also the new chef and his crew did a super job in the kitchen. Thanks R.B. Brown. Continue Reading →

Hello From Officer 4

I hope everyone had as merry a Christmas and a Happy New Year as my family and I did. The presents were nice and the fellowship was priceless. So now the next thing to look forward to is the FFAM Convention at the Lake and the Missouri State Fair.

The convention will be here before you know it and every one is busy with that but don’t forget the fair. Remember the fair applications, in this publication and on line at, are due to Monty Thompson by the end of the 2016 convention. So don’t forget to get them in.

Remember we need your FFAM membership card for 2016, your current drivers license, and any certificates and license you need for your work to work medical at the fair. These need to be with the application and also parents signatures for junior firefighters. So start now and make sure your dues are paid up, we don’t need any surprises at the last minute, and make sure your license and certificates are current and get them to us with that application. Hello from Commissioner #4 of the Missouri State Fair Fire Department. Well we just completed a very good convention at the lake and I trust every one had as good a time as I did. We had a very good start on the sales of the raffle tickets for the Henry Rifle that was donated to the FFAM for a fund raiser for the Museum/ Education Facility in Kingdom City.

There will be several people in the state that will have tickets to purchase and the gun will travel to numerous events so be patient we will have it close to you for viewing. Watch for the flyer in the newsletter and if you have any suggestions of where we should show the gun to help sales please get a hold of me to get it there. If you need tickets to sell please contact me for that also. We did wind up with around 100 applications for the fair so we will get busy and get those processed for the June meeting and start sending letters.
