Monday, October 16th, 2023, during the normal scheduled council meeting, council members (Fred Stotlemyre, Angie Gettys, Tim Ceplina, Kevin Stilley, Sheila Walker, and Don Romines) unanimously approved the purchase of a new fire training facility. We personally want to thank all of our city leaders as we continue to fulfill our promises to the citizens.
These funds are made possible by the Safe Community Active Community Initiative that our voters passed in April of 2019. Our top priorities continue to be training, apparatuses, and firefighting equipment to better serve our citizens, and those visiting or passing through.
On December 11th, 2023, the Houston Fire Department approved the Fire Training Structures (FTS) shop drawings.
On May 16th, 2024, the construction was completed by FTS on our training site, and we accepted possession. Our current Introduction to the Fire Service class conducted their practicals in the facility on Saturday, May 18th.
