Chief Kilb Passes

25 Years of Service

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Retired Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Gary Kilb on June 11th, 2024.

Deputy Chief Kilb began his distinguished career with the Cedar Hill Fire District in 1987 as a volunteer firefighter. In 1989, he transitioned to a full-time firefighter role. By 1991, his dedication and expertise earned him a promotion to Fire Marshal, a position he held with distinction until his retirement in July 2012.

During his tenure as Fire Marshal, Deputy Chief Kilb conducted hundreds of fire investigations and was instrumental in ensuring that all structures built within the Cedar Hill Fire District adhered to fire codes and safety regulations. One of his most significant contributions was overseeing the construction of the new Northwest High School, ensuring it met the highest safety standards. His professionalism and steadfast demeanor made him an exemplary Fire Marshal, respected by colleagues and the community alike.

Deputy Chief Kilb served the Cedar Hill Fire Protection District with unwavering commitment, protecting its citizens for 25 years. He was known for his dedication, integrity, and the profound impact he had on those around him.

Gary Kilb will be dearly missed by all who know him. His legacy of service and commitment to safety will continue to inspire future generations. A memorial service is being planned.
