Assistant Chief Shuster Retires

Assistant Chief Greg Shuster

Now and then the fire service loses great people. On August 24th, 2021 Cedar Hill Fire Protection District will say goodbye to one of those great people, Assistant Chief Greg Shuster. After 49 years with the district, Chief Shuster will retire.

Greg started with the district at the age of 16 as a Junior Firefighter. He says that his mother advised him that if he joined, he’d better not just join up and then quit. Greg has stuck around and left his mark.
After his time as a junior Greg went on to serve the Cedar Hill District in the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Fire Marshal, and Assistant Chief. Greg has always been willing to lend a hand or an ear to one of his firefighters. He has devoted much of his career, training others to become firefighters or to become better firefighters.

He is highly regarded amongst his peers as being an excellent training officer. Greg has spent lots of time instructing not only within the Cedar Hill organization, but also with the University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute, Jefferson County Training Academy, and Tri-County Training Consortium. Although Chief Shuster has passed on plenty of knowledge throughout the years, it will be impossible to fully replace his unique experience and expertise.

Greg plans to spend his newly found free time doing what he enjoys most, trout fishing at Bennett Springs. He also plans on becoming part of our Firefighters Auxiliary and still lending a helping hand now and then. We hope that Chief Shuster knows that our door is always open and that he is always welcome to join us for a cup of coffee and a good conversation.

After 49 years with the district, Assistant Chief Greg Shuster will retire.

Cedar Hill would like to invite everyone to our house from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6766 Cedar Hill Rd, Cedar Hill Mo, on August 25, 2021 to celebrate Assistant Chief Shusters last day. We will have an open house for anyone that would like to stop by and congratulate Greg on his retirement.
