President’s Remarks – May 2020

Greetings. Well, I believe we have all had enough of the quarantine and social distancing, but the spring weather has been slow getting here, and we have been receiving rain, maybe too much. I appreciate the fire service stepping up to lead the battle on this virus. Thank you all for being a leader. This too, we will overcome.

This year will be one for the history books. The FFAM convention is postponed until July. Summer Fire School is canceled. The Fallen Firefighters Memorial Services are postponed until October along with many other fire service-related activities.

As you are reading this, our memorial museum is entering its final stage of construction. I am sure with all of this coronavirus, our dedication will no doubt be further down the road. But we will not give up. Now more than ever the fire service needs to unite together and finish this important piece of Missouri Fire Service history.

We will also hold an election of officers at the convention. I appreciate all of the officers, directors, and assistant directors that invest many hours serving FFAM in many ways, attending meetings, promoting FFAM in their districts, serving on various committees, and having a can-do attitude when I ask for a special task to be accepted. As president, I could not ask for a better group of individuals to serve with.

Our next board meeting will be held on June 7, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in Sedalia at the fire station.

As always, I want to hear from anyone that has a question or a concern. This is everyone’s association. You may contact me by phone at 573-473-4001 or by e-mail at chiefhoover@sbcglobal.net

Until we gather again, and we will, I wish each of you the best and God speed.

Kenneth Hoover
President
