The next big event for promoting the Museum Project will be the Winter Fire School in Columbia, February 3-4, 2017. We will have a booth set up again to give information about fund raising efforts and other information pertinent to this project. Please stop by and purchase a raffle ticket, make a donation, or just visit with us about how we can raise more of the funding we need. I always enjoy seeing everyone at the fire school so come on by!
Speaking of the fire school, once again we will be doing a fund raiser at Texas Roadhouse on Friday evening of the school. In the January newsletter, we will have a flier about this event. You must take that flier and give it to your server and the museum project will receive 10% of your check. Last year we raised over $500, the largest fund raiser Texas Roadhouse had at that restaurant. You are to be commended and I’m sure you enjoyed a delicious steak. Because of the crowds, many were not able to participate, but please support this effort.
FIRE FIGHTER FIELD OF FLAGS
I am beginning the promotion of this annual project. Last year was a down year as we only posted 65 flags. It is a beautiful sight to drive by on I-70 and see all the flags flying in the wind. We will have an order form in the newsletter. I will need the orders placed by April 23 in order to have them available for posting in early May. It would be great to have every department represented with a flag. If you want the flag to stay there, the cost is $35; if you want the flag mailed to you after we take them down, the cost is $40. We post the flags prior to the Fire Fighters’ Memorial Service and leave them up until Flag Day in June.
Special thanks to the North Callaway Fire Protection District for their donation of $1,330 in memory of a long time businessman and supporter of the Fire Service in the Kingdom City area. This is a great way to remember an individual or department. Thank you!
