Last fall during Fire Prevention Week, several elementary students at Iberia R-V School participated in a poster contest sponsored by the Iberia Rural Fire Protection District and the Fire Fighter’s Association of Missouri.

The theme for the contest was Working Smoke Alarms Saves Lives: Test Yours Every Month. Those posters were on display at the school during Fire Prevention Week.

This spring, firefighters then selected three posters from each age group and entered them into a poster contest that was held at the 2015 FFAM Convention May 1 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach. Those selected were created by: first and second graders Brookelynn Humphrey, Melia Lawson-Lytton and Briana Long; third and fourth graders Brady Luttrell, Conner Onstott and Livie Crosthwait; fifth and sixth graders Josh Hamilton, Dalton Shadow and Carson Whittle.

Iberia had two statewide winners and they were: Melia Lawson-Lytton, who took first place in the First and Second Grade Division, and Josh Hamilton, who took first place in the Fifth and Sixth Grade Division.
