The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District serves over 5,000 permanent residents with a seasonal population of over 50,000. The Fire District protects over 63 square miles of land and over 30 main-channel miles of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, responding to over 700 calls for service each year. The Fire District consists of two full-time staffed fire companies, 5 fire stations, and 20 personnel. As a new employee, all entry-level Firefighters will attend a paid Recruit Fire Academy. The Academy is 50 hours/week for 7 weeks. Upon successful completion of the Academy, Firefighters will complete a one year probationary period where they will be assigned to a fire company and evaluated on a quarterly basis. The Fire District is home to a state-of-the-art fire training facility with numerous firefighting skills stations, centered around a 4-story training tower and burn building. The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District prides itself on being a host to one of the region's most aggressive training and fitness programs.

Hiring Process:

• Selection from the Tri-State list based on qualifications and/or scores
• Initial interview with peer review team
• Interview with Fire Chief and/or Chief Officers
• Offer/acceptance of employment
• Pre-employment physical and psychological profile
• Recruit Fire Academy - 7 weeks
• Probationary Period - 1 year
• Sworn in as Firefighter

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Firefighter I & II Certified, or Currently Enrolled
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Must be current on the Tri-State Recruitment Alliance list OR successfully pass a pre-employment test
