Hello to all from the east side of the state! I hope everyone is doing well and has not had many situations with the wet weather we have had.
Summer is here and everyone needs to take care of themselves. If you’re working a scene please ensure that you and your crew are taking the necessary precautions. Be sure to take the needed breaks and stay hydrated.
With the summer solstice in full swing, trips will be planned. Make sure your vehicle is ready for the summer. Have all your fluids checked and the air conditioning charged. Remember to pack a cooler of water for the longer trips.
With summer being the time for fun in the sun, plan to attend the Union Fire Protection District’s 125th Anniversary Celebration in Union on July 18. The festivities will be held around the town square.
The second work detail at the Missouri State Fair Firehouse is July 17-19. Help is needed!
If you applied to work during the Missouri State Fair, you should have received your letter of acceptance by now. Thanks to everyone who is willing to work and make the 2015 fair a great one! Any director or assistant director that would like to attend needs to make arrangements with the State Fair Committee.
For the first time poster contest winners and their families are being invited to the State Fair for a day of fun. If your department sponsored a winning entry, please work with them to have them at the fair. The days set for them and their families are August 15 or 22. They will get into the fair for free, receive a day pass for the rides at the midway as well receive their prize money.
In closing, I want to say an early thank you to all the departments, districts and vendors who have donated the much needed equipment to the Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department. If it wasn’t for the great support received we would not be able to operate. This proves the strong and true brotherhood within the fire service. Have a great summer and I’ll see ya at the fair!
