The Butler Fire Department took delivery of a new 2,000 gallon tanker in March of 2014. The unit was purchased from Deep South Fire Apparatus. The chassis is a 2010 Freightliner and is powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine. The unit is equipped with a 500 GPM Hale pump. It carries a 1,500 gallon folding tank, a CET floating pump, and has a Newton Kwik Dump 10” swivel dump valve in the rear. Funding for the purchase was from a 1/8 of 1% Fire Protection sales tax passed by the voters in August, 2012.
