Saturday December 7 at the Union Fire Protection District Banquet Senior Active Firefighter Don Wilmesher was recognized for 50 years of service to the Union Community. Don began his career with the Union Fire Department in April of 1964. He served as First Assistant Chief from 1969-1970 and Fire Chief from 1970-1978. During this time Don oversaw the successful effort for the Community to vote in the creation of The Union Fire Protection District. He went on to serve as a Captain from 1979-1985, Lieutenant from 1990-1991 and currently holds the position of Treasuer. Don was instrumental in helping form the Union Ambulance District and a past president of the Franklin Gasconade Firefighters Association as well as a Board of Directors for the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri. While very active with the Union Fire District and the fire service across the state Don is equally as active in the Union Community. Don Wilmesher was presented with a plaque from the Union Fire Department and a plaque from the Union Fire Protection District. A resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives was also presented to Don from Representative Dave Hinson.
